Particular Research Beneficial Uses ANTI-VIRAL DISINFECTANT: High antiviral efficiency of natural disinfectants, i.e. Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus Oil on the filter surface. The Tea Tree Oil aerosol challenge as disinfectant showed its high antiviral potential. It was found that both tested oils aerosols possess strong antiviral action and capable of inactivating model Influenza A virus and E. coli phage M13 viruses with efficiency of more than 95% within 5–15 min of exposure. Additionally, the oils in aerosol form as well as in vapour phase looks very promising for further development of virus inactivating procedures and technologies for air quality applications. ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: Tea tree oil has been shown to increase monocytic differentiation in vitro and reduce inflammation, therefore assisting the healing of chronic wounds. Further studies reported that the main component of tea tree oil, terpinen4-ol, has been shown to suppress inflammatory mediator production by activating monocytes in vitro.
